B/CS is a tight-knit community that always comes together to help others in need. Recently the Dixie Chicken hosted an event to help raise funds for College Station police officer. Maverick 100.9 was excited to join forces with the Chicken for such a good cause.
Detective Gatlin Kling was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer. Kling, a Bryan native, graduated from Texas A&M in 2005 with a degree in agricultural communications and journalism. He joined the College Station Police Department in 2010, and began as a patrol officer on the streets, including Northgate. He was promoted to detective earlier this year.
“It hit really close to home and we wanted to do something positive for our first responders,” said Maverick Program Director, Adam Drake. “The event was a success and there were people at the Chicken the entire day and throughout the evening.”
The proceeds from the silent auction, food, drinks, and the 42 tournament went to help the Kling family with medical bill expenses.
