For the seventh year, Bryan Broadcasting’s community service to Bryan College Station has been recognized with the Texas Association of Broadcasters Bonner McLane award. The Texas Association of Broadcasters created the Bonner McLane Public Service Awards to recognize six television and radio stations’ outstanding contributions and service to their local communities.
Bryan Broadcasting was given the service award for the “Empty Bowls Jr.” fundraiser. Together, The Arts Council of the Brazos Valley and Bryan Broadcasting joined forces to make the event a success. The money raised went to the A&M Consolidated Food Bank which provides food to students in need at Consol.
Candy 95, Maverick 100.9, and Peace 107.7 raised more than $5,000 (doubling the amount of money raised in its first year of association with Bryan Broadcasting) to aid in the fight against hunger in the Brazos Valley. The event which was hosted at the Bryan Broadcasting Studios at The Crystal Park Plaza allowed listeners to buy hand crafted bowls made by art students and teachers with Bryan ISD, College Station ISD, Richards ISD, and Allen Academy.
